If time is actually an illusion, then why does it seem so real?" Was one of the first questions I posed to "Kronos". It is the summer of 1962, and I had not seen him for about six months, and I was very excited that he was back! I don't know if I mentioned this, but Kronos is a "Time Lord", one of those very rare creatures who have visited earth, from time to time, throughout recorded history. Usually as a precursor to an impending catastrophic event that would have devastated mankind without help from these wonderful Beings. He has, for reasons known only to him, taken me on as a student.
KRONOS
Choosing his words, "Three dimensional entities observe and experience time as an ever forward series of events, much like frames on a roll of film containing a movie. You, as an observer, see and experience each series of frames as differing experiences and changing scenes. Even though you see only one frame at a time, it all moves fast enough to give the illusion of continuous motion. It seems as though you were moving along in present time as each frame flits by. Once a frame has passed, it is gone. But is it actually gone? Or is it stored upon the film to be seen another day."
TAKING
A
TRIP
As Kronos talked, I felt he was getting ready to take me on a "trip" to emphasize his point. He continued, "As we live each day, we seem to stay in a kind of present time, while events and scenes move past us. We will call this kind of time "linear time". From a three dimensional viewpoint, once a particular day or week or lifetime has passed, it is gone. But is it actually gone? Or is it stored upon the film of consciousness capable of being re-experienced another day?" I nodded mentally, not fully understanding the impact of what he was saying.
NON-LINEAR
TIME
As I sat there in front of my computer, half awake, Kronos began to gently raise my vibrations until I was no longer in my physical body. He continued without hesitation. "Probably the best way to begin to understand "illusionary time" is to examine "non-illusionary time", which we will call "non-linear time". Non-linear time is not viewed one frame at a time. It is viewed as a concurrent happening, where all events occur at the same time! This may sound horribly confusing, but it becomes fascinating once you become accustom to it. Then, linear time seems confusing by comparison."
The first time Kronos showed me non-linear time, I was rather embarrassed to find that every single thing I had ever done, was still happening. It seems that nothing is lost or even distorted, and it can last forever. Kronos explained to me that, ".....non-linear time was necessary in order to have linear time. 3d illusion is a necessary platform, upon which developing souls can safely evolve. Remember that everything is illusion including, you and me." He then took me to a place of utter darkness. "This is the "beginning of time", which is but a point on a never ending loop of events contained in this time-line."
Traveling with Kronos was exciting, to say the very least. He was expert at traveling this way, and made it all seem so easy. He has a way of overlaying his continuously blissful emotions upon mine, otherwise I would have been a basket case, and too scared to learn anything. There never seemed to be any delay, travel with Kronos was always instantaneous. "Blink", we would be in one place or time, and then "blink", and we would be somewhere (or sometime) else.
Once I became accustom to the "void", Kronos continued his explanation.
THE
WAVELESS
STATE
"Beautiful isn't it?" Kronos said, referring to the absolutely empty blackness all around us, "Although it is a favorite of mine, this is the place that most three dimensional beings dread more than any other. It is called the "wave-less state" by the Tibetans. One can learn much here from persistently observing the void." "I see." Was all I could muster. "Well, I am sure that you don't see, and to prove my point," Kronos replied with his all knowing twinkle. "I will ask you a couple of simple questions."
I wasn't prepared for a quiz, but it never occurred to me to complain.
"What is the first thing you notice about this place?"
"It is very dark?" I asked feebly.
"Yes, dark, and what else?"
"There seems to be nothing here."
"Aha! And there's the rub!"
Kronos could get quite excited about nothing, no pun intended. He was childlike in this way.
"What you perceive as nothing is actually a more of something than what you would normally consider as something. Here we have a universe at the very beginning of its' cycle. It is space that contains pure energy. Space and energy go together, one cannot exist without the other. We can also deduce, from our experience, that it is graced with the ability to be conscious."
"Hmmmm." I said, trying to be as inscrutable as possible.
Kronos continued. "As you begin to study the void, you will eventually unravel most of the secrets of the universe. Let us imagine, for a moment, a ball of clear jelly suspended in space. There is space there because the jelly circumvents the most scary reality of all, that of there being no reality at all, not even space, or what I call "absolute void."
"What is the jelly made out of?" I asked.
"It is made of pure energy! There is no sub-atomic, atomic or molecular structure. Although it co-exists in space, there is no mixing of energy and space as is so prevalent in the three dimensional universe." He continued, "Now, it is absolutely important, as we go along, that you fully understand these concepts as I enumerate them, because without this understanding, we cannot progress on to more interesting things."
Kronos paused as he gathered his thoughts.
LET
THERE
BE
LIGHT!
Nothing prepared me for what I next saw! We were suddenly thrust into blinding white light that seemed to come from everywhere. It was clearly brighter than the sun, but, strangely, didn't hurt my eyes. Although I could no longer see Kronos, I sensed he was next to me.
"Lets shed some light on the subject."
Kronos, at times, had a sort of James Bond sense of humor. (However, I would have said, "Let there be light!" He-he)" "Let me explain." He said. "Although it may seem that we have moved to an entirely different space, we are actually still in exactly the same spot. The only difference is one of time."
I was hoping his explanation would be a short one because I was having a hard time adjusting to so much white light.
Kronos continued, "By that I mean we have moved forward in time to look at a different part of the cycle. Now....,
(Whenever he started a sentence with now, I knew I was about to be asked a difficult question).
....what do you make of this? I mean, what do you think happened to cause this phenomenon?
BLACK
AND
WHITE
My own silence was deafening. I finally spoke. "Well, it was dark, and now it is light." I said, knowingly. "Yes, of course, but what do you think happened to make such a marked transition?" "Because of the cycle?" I ventured, glad I had paid attention.
"Aha! That is it!" He interjected, "The cycle. This cycle has only two components, black and white. When we were looking at the 1st dimension, we saw a dimension devoid of everything except space, primordial energy and potential. Looking at this, the 2nd dimension we see the same space filled with light, however, this is also only a one dimensional place! By this I mean, although it is part of the cycle, it is static and, although made up of all available vibration, is without motion, just as the void was static.
He was silent for a moment. "Can you think of any thing in your everyday world that would be analogous to this?"
The only thing I could think of was a light switch, which he had used in our last meeting. "A light switch?"
"Very good!" He said.
In spite of his obvious Pavlovian approach to teaching, I always felt a small sense of pride whenever he complemented me.
I could feel Kronos beaming with childlike enthusiasm. "Yes, and also day and night. Now, explain to me exactly what happens when you are in the dark and you flip on the light switch?"
I knew he expected at least a spark of mental acuity. "So, I thought for a long time.....Hmmm." I said slowly. "You are in a dark room, and when you turn on the light, it becomes illuminated."
"Very good." He said. "Now, What would happen if you were to turn the light on and off very rapidly?"
"Well, I suppose the room would seem to stay lighted."
"Yes!" He said excitedly, sensing that I was catching on. "This is exactly what is happening in the next place we will visit!"
"Think of it this way, if you were to juggle two tennis balls, one black and the other white, before you started to juggle, you would only have the raw components necessary for you to juggle. Once you started juggling, the tennis balls would now have motion, and they would intermingle to form something greater than just the two parts in their static states. And so, the void, (black tennis ball) is one of the two raw components, and the void filled with light, (white tennis ball), is the other. They are each static because it is as though we have freeze framed each at their most pure place in the cycle." (perigee and apogee.)
"The best way for you to understand this is for us to move to the dynamic combination of the two. We now have moved out of "two dimensional time" into "three dimensional time". Although it is still a white light universe, do you notice the difference?" "Yes", I said excitedly, "It looks almost exactly the same, but there is a definite difference. This one seems vibrant and almost alive and it has a sort of depth, whereas the other one was flat and lifeless."
"Wonderful isn't it. We are seeing the difference between the 2nd dimension, "passive", and the 3rd dimension, "dynamic". Here we are looking at a rapid cycle of "on and off". This is the key to universal truth."
He paused looking for exactly the right words that would ring the bell for me. "In the 1st and 2nd dimensions, we see the basis for evil, (black), and good, (white). These are diametrically opposed "half truths", and are simply the two halves of the 3rd dimension, which is complete, and has no external opposite. (Pure truth, without the concept of evil, because good and evil have been blended to form universal Good).. Memorize this principle, because we will be encountering many aspects of it as we progress in our studies. In your teachings, you will find that this is probably the single most difficult principle to explain.
The next thing I knew, I was back at my computer. Kronos was not big on long goodbyes.
FISH
OUT
OF
WATER
A fellow metaphysician once told me that, "If you continue to pursue the unknown in the fervent way you are now pursuing it, you may, one day, find yourself like a fish out of water!" How true this turned out to be, although I felt more like a puppy on the fast lane of the freeway. I found that I was loath to talk about Kronos, and any of what I was learning, to anyone, not even my fellow metaphysicians, for fear of being put away, or worse, of being ignored! I was far too old to have a "special friend" from another planet showing me around the universe.
I had seen "One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest", I didn't want to be involuntarily introduced to my own version of "nurse Cratchet." So, you can imagine my reaction when Kronos said that I would eventually publish what I was learning from him.
My everyday 3d world kept me busy. I thought about the "problem" of the "void" verses the "void with light", only occasionally, for about a week. I hadn't gotten very far with it, I mean, what was there to understand? I decided to wait for Kronos to explain it to me. I never knew when Kronos was going to take me on for a trip, but as it turned out, I didn't have long to wait.
One minute I was staring half asleep at my computer screen. The next minute I was with Kronos. We often times met in a sort of twilight place. I could sense that I was still in my physical body, but at the same time, sort of floating half in and half out of it. In this kind of session, Kronos would seem as though he was inside of my mind. Other times, I could actually see a facsimile of him outside of myself. I heard him ask, "Have you thought about what we were discussing?"
I said that I had, but felt I had made little progress.
"I am going to approach the answer from a little different direction." He said in his usual good natured manner.
BROWN
AND
LUMPY
Although I had gazed upon him many times, I was always stunned when I saw him again. It seemed impossible to remember just how wonderful the experience was. He claims to be androgynous, brown and actually kind of lumpy looking, that his real name was Mr. Poopy, and that what I saw was a projection of how I thought he should look. (I never could tell if he was kidding me or not.) However, it is difficult for me to believe that I could imagine anyone so incredible.
He has a child like quality that beams out when he is happy, which is most of the time. I loved being in his presence. "Where did we leave off?" He asked.
Sensing that this was a rhetorical question, I didn't try to answer.
"Oh yes, we were discussing the first and second dimensions. Here in the void, we see a single dimension, which we will call the "1st. dimension", a dimension of space. Although the "white light" universe is also a single dimension, it is called the 2nd dimension, a dimension of static light. This is because at the beginning of the cycle, we experience the void first, and the white light second."
"Another reason we call the white light experience the 2nd dimension is because it gives the illusion of being two entirely different universes." He studied me to see if I was comprehending any of this. "If you are not understanding all of this, it is all right. We will be going over it until you do. I want you to notice how the illusion of separateness is created. Remember that we are seeing the very beginning of illusion and how it comes into being out of nothing.
I was excited to be with Kronos, and to be, perhaps, the first human in my time-line to be shown the actual most inner workings of creation!
It was an astounding honor, and as always, I looked forward to our next visit.
HOME
LIFE
My home life wasn't conducive to meditation. I noticed that when I got wrapped up in work and being a father and husband, that I was less likely to have the "Kronos experience", as I liked to call it.
My parents had a nice mountain cabin in Idlewild California. And after kissing everyone goodbye, I drove up there from L.A.. I hadn't seen Kronos in nearly six months, and was beginning to wonder if he found me too slow to teach? I hoped that the solitude, trees and the charm of the cabin would be more suitable for a meeting with him.
Upon arriving at the cabin, I was glad to see about two feet of snow. Quite a change from, the bone chilling cold and oppressively smoggy, Los Angeles.. Although it was cold in the mountain air, it was crisp and invigorating. It made one feel glad to be alive! I crunched through the snow to the front porch. It was a rustic two story cabin surrounded by pine trees, over looking a stream in a small gorge that formed a water fall just along side the cabin. Large boulders formed part of the water falls, and one could clearly hear the melodic sounds that only rushing water falling from a height can make. After opening the bedroom window, I could hear the falls all night long. I always slept very well there, nestled in a great thick comforter breathing crisp cold mountain air.
In the morning, I got the fireplace going. The fireplace was bigger than one might expect, and was built entirely of large round grayish stones set in cement. In the kitchen there was a wood burning stove which quickly warmed the coffee. I always liked fresh bacon and eggs with potatoes in the morning when I was there. After I had finished eating and cleaning up, I relaxed in front of the fireplace, on the birch wood sofa, with its thick white and brown cow hide cushions.
I must have dozed off, because when I awoke, Kronos was there. We were back in the void, and I could feel that he was happy to see me.
He said, "I thought you were probably about ready for a continuation of our adventure."
If I had been a puppy, I am sure my whole body would have been wagging! Boy I was glad to see him!
For a change, I had some questions for him. I started by asking about the concept of good and evil. "I, (and everyone I know), have been taught that there is good and evil, and that good should be sought while evil should be expunged. This fact was so ingrained in me that I never even thought to question it, because it seemed so self evident. Unless I am mistaken, what you have been telling me here seems a lot different, somehow, than that?"
He knew exactly what I was talking about.
"Yes, without getting into religious concepts, I will explain this as clearly as I can. First of all, there is the void, which goes through a continuous cycle of vibration. At a point, where the vibration reaches its maximum, we see the universe of white light. When the cycle reaches its minimum, we see the universe of darkness. Simply the same place at different times."
"Kronos." I interrupted, "I remember this from our previous talks, but what does this have to do with good and evil?" Kronos twinkled, "Why don't you tell me?"
If I could just learn to leave my big mouth shut. "Hmmmm......I don't know.
"You will know when we are finished with our lesson." He continued good naturedly. "We see, from this, that both universes are absolutely equal, being in actually the same place, and that they are opposite. In this primordial place dark and light is all of the opposition there can be."
Kronos continued, carefully selecting his words. (I could tell that he was warming up). "From our observations, we are led to believe that vibration is inherent to energy. Taking this one step further, we could speculate that the balance between energy and space without
vibration, is itself an illusion perpetuated by the act of vibrating. And that if vibration were to cease, then the illusion of time, space and energy would be replaced by the ultimate "anti-reality", the "universal void". This leads to further speculation, that if there was but a single causal event that began creation, then it would have to be vibration. To speculate as to the cause of said vibration is beyond the scope of our lesson at this time.
TO
GLOW
OR
NOT
TO
GLOW
He most likely noticed that he had lost me, but smiling, continued with his previous thought anyway.
"When energy is in its stimulated phase, (or in that part of its vibratory cycle that is stimulating), it glows, so to speak. And so it follows that when energy is in that part of its vibratory cycle that is not stimulating, or at a time that it is not being stimulated by vibration, it does NOT glow. That is to say, the primordial universe is both light and dark by nature, depending upon the predictable cyclic position in which it periodically finds itself, and is subject to the "natural laws" of vibratory oscillation, (Laws which are being formally introduced here). This oscillation forces one to think in terms of time. In "static time", the universe is either black or white, (and "ne'er the twain shall meet"). In "dynamic time", the universe is vibrating rapidly, (relative to ones viewpoint), back and forth from dark to light and back again, and appears as only a single universe full of light,(the primordial "third dimension"). From these contradistinctions, we can build the illusion of "good and evil".
Checking to see if I was still paying attention, he continued. "Since it takes these two seemingly separate universes to make the "second dimension", we have the basis for good and evil, in that, at least to human beings, light seems more attractive than darkness. Diametrically opposed as they are, it appears that they are at odds with one another, because as soon as a three dimensional being, through great effort, attains the light, the evil darkness is soon on its heels to, seemingly, destroy his good works."
Kronos peered into my mind to see if I was beginning to understand. It was scary when he did that. It reminded me that I had no defense against him, and that I was in the presence of something so powerful that it was beyond human imagination, and so far beyond my abilities and understanding, that I knew he could easily destroy me with a thought, if he so choose! However, it was in ample evidence, from everything I had observed and felt from Kronos, that he had evolved to a place very far removed from being capable of inflicting the slightest hurt or even the slightest intrusiveness upon another another living creature. I truly believe that it wouldn't have even occurred to him to do otherwise!
Satisfied, Kronos continued to weave a mysterious tapestry made of light and dark, good and evil, seemingly just for my edification.
